This remodel project was all about taking an outdated space and making it feel fresh & functional for the modern family. The cabinetry played a major role in creating an upscale, modern/traditional design. We kept it classic with the warm white tone, Farrow & Ball’s “Wimborne White” which pairs beautifully with the wood accents on the back of the island and the floating shelves. The shaker doors give some interest and a more traditional craftsman feel, while maintaining an overall fresh, modern aesthetic when paired with the brushed brass minimalist handles. The trim work you can see at the top of cabinets is another thoughtful detail which perfectly balances the modern/traditional elements. The huge 12 ft island is a great place for gathering and also keeps a perfectly symmetrical look with the hidden dishwasher (disguised behind a beautiful cabinet/drawer panel) and hidden pull-out garbage cans as well. Having an island that looks to be entirely cabinetry allowed us to achieve the traditional, timeless look we were after and also the clean, minimalist feel through the balance & symmetry.
The pantry space is ultra functional and also ultra beautiful with a mix of open and closed storage solutions. The drawers are a great option for maximizing space and providing a clean, simplified look. It’s an awesome extension of the kitchen space that works well for meal prep & additional storage.
